Hello! I'm Kelly, a designer who recently graduated from UCLA. I've designed for The Walt Disney Company, UCLA, and start-up companies in Los Angeles and San Diego. I'm currently freelancing and would love to work with you!
Projects
Disney D23 Expo
D23 Expo is the biannual "The Ultimate Disney Fan Event" that celebrates all things Disney. As the lead designer on this project, I worked with PMs, designers, engineers, the D23 team, and other stakeholders to create a hub for all information regarding the event. I worked from client intake/ user research to high-fidelity designs, consistently communicating with stakeholders to ensure that my designs fit within business and engineering constraints. The site launched in January of 2022, and was used by 140k+ users. https://d23expo.com/See MoreNextdoor Redesign
Upon using the Nextdoor app, I noticed some problems with visual design and usability that could hinder the user, making Nextdoor less accessible to all. I wanted to challenge myself to dive deeper into the root causes of these issues and redesign the app to address them. I worked through the full UX Design process to achieve all of the following deliverables: • Research and findings • Information architecture • Impact vs. effort diagram • High-fidelity screens • User flows • Prototypes • Usability testingSee MoreDisney Aspire Atrium
Disney Aspire is a program exclusively for employees of The Walt Disney Company. It seeks to help further the education and expand the skillsets of employees in hopes of fostering career growth. (Read more about Disney Aspire: https://disney.guildeducation.com/partner/) My task was to design "Disney Aspire Atrium", an internal site for Disney Aspire that acts as an information hub for prospective, current, and alum students, as well as mentors or other employees that may be involved. This site will enable Disney Aspire to market to and communicate with students, allowing them to have more control over the Aspire narrative. As the lead UX designer on this project, I started with client intake and worked up to high-fidelity iterations. Throughout this project, I collaborated with the client and project managers to solidify the information architecture, ensure that chosen features were within engineering constraints, solidify the site design system/ branding, and more. Specific deliverables included: • Research and competitive analysis • Information architecture • Low-fidelity wireframes • User flows • High-fidelity iterationsSee MoreZoom Q&A
The increase in online-classroom formats has caused difficulties in learning. Though Zoom is effective for its main purpose of communication, many students and teachers have reported feeling distracted and unmotivated during online classes, newfound emotions not present in the in-person classroom. To foster engagement and interaction within the digital classroom, I designed a question-asking feature for Zoom. This feature makes use of the chat box as a space for teachers to ask questions for students to answer. With the distinction of questions from regular chat messages, ease of answering questions, and social incentives such as progress bars and face piles, students are motivated to participate.See MoreWork History
