Adnaan Syed
Software Developer | Incoming CUNY Tech Prep Fellow
I am currently a rising junior at Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Brooklyn College and have been self-learning web development since my freshman year. I am fascinated by modern web development because of how critical it is in today’s technology driven world. Nowadays, websites serve as the vanguard to any organization, and having one of good quality is essential in effectively spreading one’s message and attracting supporters.
I have been expanding my skills by putting them into practice. For instance, in the 2019 CUNY Hackathon, I formed a group and spearheaded the development of a website that used online information and databases to compare statistics usually looked into when buying a home in a new neighborhood. The technologies we used were HTML, CSS, as well as Javascript to integrate Google Maps API to improve the UI. I have also used my skills to actively benefit the campus clubs I have been leading. For example, when I was the Vice President of the Engineering Club, I collaborated with the club’s board to improve our website. I expanded upon the website with HTML/CSS, successfully attracting incoming freshmen and increasing website traffic by 20%. I will be further honing my skills as a 2021-2022 fellow in Cuny Tech Prep, a competitive one-year technical program that offers training in Full-Stack Web Development.
