Multi-Team Operational Readiness Initiative - AWS Skill Builder

In 2025 at AWS, I was asked to support operational readiness for a large multi-team launch, and noticed each team was planning on hand rolling infrastructure monitoring for their independently deployed frontend modules, which would've slowed them down and not been standardized for the release. I proposed and designed a shared monitoring layer for these modules: common metrics, alarms, and dashboards packaged as reusable infrastructure as code, so that teams could plug into it instead of reinventing it. My goal was to minimize the code teams had to write to adopt the monitoring layer, while still giving them full flexibility to tailor metrics and alarms to their specific needs. I partnered with our platform team to implement and roll this out across 22 modules, then refined alarm behavior, templates, examples, and documentation based on real usage and feedback. This reduced duplicated effort by an estimated 88 - 132 developer hours, contributed to a launch with no major incidents, and gave teams a consistent, higher quality observability baseline going into and after release.See More
