Product Designer | UX Researcher | Innovator
With a strong foundation in Human Computer Interaction from Indiana University Indianapolis and a background in Civil Engineering from Amity University Kolkata, I have developed a diverse skill set in product design and user experience research. As a Product Designer and Project Lead at IU RedLab, I spearheaded the Firegen project, leading cross-disciplinary teams and enhancing project outcomes through strategic vision and collaboration. My role at the Toyota Mobility Foundation involved improving operational efficiency in charitable food distribution, where I implemented service design methodologies and developed a scalable translation tool. As a User Experience Research Assistant at IU Luddy School, I conducted field research on workplace accessibility, focusing on the challenges faced by disabled job seekers. My work is characterized by a user-centered design approach, leveraging research and collaboration to drive impactful solutions.

Projects

Toyota Mobility Foundation Project

Marion County (IN) communities experience substantial food insecurity. We partnered with food banks and local food pantries to understand the food assistance gap. My team partnered with Westminster Neighborhood Services (WNS) to develop tailored solutions to the challenges they face. Westminster Neighborhood Services struggles with lengthy client check-in processes, particularly for non-English speakers, causing frustration and inefficiency. ‍Underlying Issue: Language barriers create delays due to staff reliance on translation apps for repetitive client intake questions, impacting client experience and pantry efficiency. I designed "Translator Playlist," a feature that can be integrated into any existing translator applications. This solution enables users (here staff) to personalize and pre-load common check-in conversations/questions, translating them into any language with a single click. Also developed a temporary tool for immediate use. Result: Implementing this at Westminster Neighborhood Services improved both staff and client experience, substantially reduced new client registration time by 39.44% for non English speaker, and increased overall check-in process efficiency by 26.24%.See More

Writing incident reports for firefighters is not only time-consuming but also error-prone. It considerably increases their work stress, which has an adverse effect on their psychological well-being and job performance. I conceptualized and designed an advanced incident reporting system for the firefighters. It leverages deep learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to analyze raw conversation data, automatically extracting key details and summarizing the incident. This generates a high-quality draft report, saving firefighters time and ensuring consistent reporting. After reviewing and making any necessary edits, firefighters can submit the final report with ease. Impact: + User interviews with 8 firefighters revealed this could accelerate their incident report generation by at least 50% + Led team expansionSee More
