PR and Communications Specialist • Brand Partnership Manager • Creative & Brand Strategist • New Orleans, LA, US
PR Architect | Crisis + Narrative Strategist | Shaping Public Opinion in Real Time
Angelique Phipps is a public relations strategist with nearly two decades of experience shaping narratives that influence policy and drive social change. She has worked across entertainment, legal, education, hospitality, and philanthropy, using media strategy to elevate critical racial justice issues. A recognized expert in advocacy communications, Phipps has dedicated her career to challenging racial bias in the criminal justice and education systems. She led the media strategy behind Louisiana’s RAP Act, ensuring that public narratives and press coverage helped drive the passage of legislation protecting artistic expression in criminal trials. Her storytelling work was also instrumental in The Rap Trap: Hip-Hop on Trial, the Emmy-winning documentary that exposed how prosecutors criminalize Black artistry. Phipps works to ensure that communities impacted by injustice have a voice in national conversations. Through targeted media strategy and advocacy, she has secured national coverage on Good Morning America, Nightline, CBS Mornings, The Daily Show, Rolling Stone, ESPN, and more. She specializes in crisis communications, media relations, and influencer strategy, helping movements connect with the right audiences to push for systemic change. Beyond media and policy work, Phipps has played a key role in fundraising and awareness efforts for social justice initiatives, using strategic communications to build public and philanthropic support. Her ability to bridge media, philanthropy, and grassroots organizing has helped advocacy groups mobilize resources and shift narratives on racial justice. Angelique holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Native American Studies from the University of Oklahoma. She is a 2024-25 Marsiglia Justice Institute Fellow and a 2024-25 Loyola Institute of Politics Fellow. Phipps also obtained her Executive Education in Public Leadership at the John F.
