I attend Illinois State University and intend to get a degree in psychology. I’m hard-working and reliable, with a passion for my work. After working in both retail and food service, I have lots of experience engaging with customers and communicating with my team. I’ve helped companies like Marshalls and Journeys improve their sales, and I’ve been a part of the Chipotle team as a grill person. After 3-4 years of being in the working world, I’ve learned how to handle cash, work registers, organize merchandise, perform janitorial services, communicate with customers, train new employees, initiate new ideas, keep inventory, move heavy objects, and process truck shipments. I’m new to the virtual job world, but I’m excited to get started!

Retail Associate

MarshallsAug 2020 - Feb 2023 • 2 yrs 7 mosWhile working at Marshalls in Peoria, Illinois, I learned a lot about the intricacies of retail and sales. I began with basic janitorial services such as wiping down surfaces to adhere to COVID-19 protocols. Then, after a short while, I was trained on the register and sales floor. In my time at Marshalls, my job consisted of: handling money, operating computer systems, organizing merchandise, processing incoming shipments, moving heavy furniture, assisting customers with questions, training new employees, promoting rewards programs, stocking shelves, keeping inventory, and so much more. As there are many areas of work at this company, I was constantly kept busy around the store. After proving to the team that I can be dedicated, responsible, and flexible, I was entrusted to come up with new initiatives for our store. For example, I would set up new features near the front doors in order to increase sales. While I was eventually offered a higher-level coordinator position, I respectfully declined because I was still in high school and did not have time to make that commitment at that point in my life. Additionally, working at Marshalls taught me how to be a respectful, responsible young adult that can efficiently communicate in social situations. I feel that I have blossomed into a promising young adult, and I accredit much of my success to my time at Marshalls. In August of 2022, I moved to Bloomington, Illinois to attend Illinois State University. At first I remained employed at Marshalls, coming home a few times a month to work a shift and earn some extra money. However, by February of 2023, I realized that the back and forth between school and home was too much. While my time at Marshalls has come to a close, I will forever be grateful for the opportunities and experiences they provided me with. Now, with a stronger knowledge of retail and customer experience, I feel that I am fit to re-enter the working world.
