RunaOct 2022 - Present • 2 yrsIn my role as Head of Engineering at Runa, I took on the challenge of transforming a struggling team into a high-performing force. By implementing rigorous methodologies and leveraging the power of AWS services, we were able to revolutionize our engineering delivery process. Through effective project management and streamlined workflows, we achieved consistent project delivery and surpassed our targets. One of the key initiatives I led at Runa was the migration from a monolithic architecture to a serverless architecture. This architectural shift allowed us to leverage the benefits of scalability, cost efficiency, and improved developer productivity. By decomposing our application into smaller, independent services, we eliminated bottlenecks, enhanced fault tolerance, and enabled seamless scaling. The use of AWS Lambda and other serverless technologies empowered us to focus more on business logic and less on infrastructure management. This transition not only improved our development speed but also significantly reduced operational costs. Furthermore, I championed the adoption of rigorous technical decision-making processes within the engineering team. We established clear documentation practices and created a framework for evaluating and documenting technical choices. DevFactoryMar 2021 - Oct 2022 • 1 yr 8 mosAs the Subsystem CTO at DevFactory, I had the privilege of playing a crucial role in simplifying product architectures and optimizing costs. I led the charge in modernizing multiple products by eliminating tens of thousands of lines of code and introducing more streamlined and scalable architectures. By leveraging my expertise in AWS cost optimization, I spearheaded initiatives to reduce infrastructure costs by over 50% for acquired products. This involved analyzing usage patterns, identifying optimization opportunities, and implementing risk-free cost optimization strategies in the AWS environment. One of the most exciting projects I worked on was the development of an innovative AWS cost optimization platform. This platform automatically identifies cost optimization opportunities, allowing businesses to make informed decisions and drive significant cost savings. We created a solution that analyzes and optimizes costs across various AWS services, empowering organizations to maximize their ROI and ensure efficient resource allocation. Crowd AnalyzerSep 2013 - Sep 2021 • 8 yrs 1 moAs the CTO and Co-Founder of Crowd Analyzer, I had the privilege of leading the engineering team and driving innovation in the field of social media analytics. From the early stages of the company to its remarkable growth, I played a pivotal role in scaling the engineering team from scratch to over 30 talented engineers. Together, we built a cutting-edge social media listening platform that enabled brands to analyze and understand people's opinions. One of the most significant accomplishments during my tenure at Crowd Analyzer was the development of a sophisticated ecosystem comprising 80+ microservices, 150+ components, and 200+ shared libraries in Node.JS. This architecture allowed us to handle massive data volumes and deliver real-time insights to our clients. To address scalability challenges, we developed our own microservices framework and database drivers, ensuring high performance and seamless scalability. Quality and best practices were at the forefront of our engineering efforts. We implemented rigorous code review processes to enforce design patterns and SOLID principles, ensuring a maintainable and robust codebase. We also emphasized automated testing, achieving 95%+ test coverage through unit and integration tests. Additionally, we leveraged advanced algorithms and data structures, such as tree structures and the Knapsack algorithm, to tackle complex parsing and in-memory storage challenges. Scaling was a key aspect of our work at Crowd Analyzer. We successfully managed Elasticsearch clusters housing over 2 billion records, enabling us to handle large-scale data analysis. Moreover, we established a robust continuous integration/continuous deployment pipeline using CircleCI, Docker, and AWS Kubernetes, allowing us to rapidly iterate and deliver new features to our clients. Being a part of Crowd Analyzer was a transformative experience, as we pioneered advancements in social media analytics and helped businesses gain valuable insights.
