Data-driven and user-obsessed product manager with front-end and back-end development. Market research, e-commerce, and healthcare.
Hi, I’m Dylan — a product manager based out of New York City (I’m originally from the NYC metropolitan area but also have spent a significant amount of time abroad in Europe and Asia). I currently work in health tech, but also have experience with e-commerce and market research. Interested in running, houseplants, film photography, and language learning (ask me about Dutch!).

Projects

Identity Verification

As a security feature, in order to prevent fraud, the team that I was working with was interested in implementing a digital identification verification solution. I led our team to build this feature out, working with a developer, a UI designer, and a copywriter to build out the flow, the backend, UI, and the text of this feature. Traditionally, in an in-person office, a client gives a form of identification (such as a driver’s license), which is then copied and kept on file on the clinical side. As a telehealth practice, we opted to do the same, but in a simple and fast, yet secure and reliable way.See More

In-App Live Chat Functionality

When this particular live chat feature was first built out, plenty of features were available and the “guts” of the live chat functionality were available — basic messaging, timestamps, and more. There were a few things that could improve the UX: 1. In-app notifications 2. External notifications 3. Deliverability status This was a challenge, especially given that there were many moving parts that required additional development. I led a team to tackle these challenges on all fronts. 1. In-app notifications First, we tackled in-app notifications. There were many issues facing us, including issues surrounding counting, notification read status being altered if users were in the app, but not in the live chat, just to name a few. Eventually, these issues were fixed, and we made sure that all notifications were going out through extensive and rigorous testing. 1. External notifications To ensure proper user engagement (on both sides), we made sure that users would also receive SMS messaging and emails that notified users that they had received a message. This came with its own challenges as well. We wanted to prevent users, especially on the clinical side, from being overwhelmed by notifications, so we introduced a cooldown period of five minutes, and a feature that would prevent these notifications from going out at all if users had read those notifications. To maintain HIPAA-compliance, I opted to completely eliminate any live chat communications from being accessed outside the web app. Users would have to log in in order to view any notifications or messages that they had received from another user. Below is a sample of an SMS communication that would go out to a user. This prompts users to log into the user portal. (More in link)See More
