I have worked as a software engineer intern at Salgaa Sales, where I was responsible for maintaining the frontend internal web portal using React and TypeScript. My efforts resulted in improved navigation and an increased customer satisfaction rate. Additionally, I worked as a data science intern at PWC, where I collaborated with a team of four to analyze donor data and make recommendations to improve donor acquisition.

Policy evaluation

The project replicates and extends a study on the effects of Stand Your Ground (SYG) laws on firearm homicide rates in Florida. The study uses an interrupted time-series design and a synthetic control group to create a "synthetic Florida" for comparison. The results are compared with those of the original study, and a placebo test is conducted to test the causal effect of the introduction of the SYG law. The paper highlights the limitations of the study and discusses the controversy surrounding the SYG laws in the United States.See More

Speech Themes Analysis: Kenyan Presidents

This project is called "Speech Themes Analysis: Kenyan Presidents" and it is a Natural Language Processing (NLP) project that analyzes speeches given by Kenyan presidents to identify the most common themes that appear in each speech. The main goal of the project is to understand the priorities and concerns of the Kenyan government as reflected in the speeches of the presidents. The project is built using Python programming language and various NLP libraries to analyze and process the speeches. The project is currently complete, but the developer is looking to add new features and functionality. Some potential ideas for expansion include adding support for analyzing speeches in additional languages, implementing sentiment analysis to understand the tone of the speeches, incorporating additional NLP techniques such as named entity recognition, and creating a web-based user interface for the program. The scope of functionality for this project is to use NLP techniques to identify and extract themes from speeches given by Kenyan presidents. The program can process multiple speeches at once and generate a report of the most common themes in each speech. Currently, the program is limited to analyzing speeches in English language only. The project has some limitations in accurately identifying and extracting themes from speeches. The prerequisites for using the project include Python 3.x, NLTK library, Pandas library, and Matplotlib library.
