Resident Assistant

The University of IowaAug 2018 - May 2021 • 2 yrs 10 mos Managed and assisted 100+ students and other resident assistants during crisis situations by following the necessary crisis response protocol Mediated and resolved conflict between residents who were struggling to communicate with one another Composed 50-60 incident reports to inform professional staff of policy violations and to document unresolved problems in the residence halls, such as visible damage or vandalism Provided support and campus resources to students who had recently experienced emotional distress or trauma due to an incident in the residence halls Enforced university and departmental policy to ensure the safety and security of the residence hall and its 500+ occupants Monitored the residence halls during scheduled duty rounds and responded to building-wide duty calls Mentored 40-50 students each semester on academic, social, and personal success and assisted in resolving student concerns by referring them to relevant campus resources Organized monthly floor socials each semester to encourage relationship building and maintaining an inclusive and supportive community Collaborated with other resident assistants to plan 2-3 events per semester and prepare student programming to encourage community building and student development in the residence halls Assisted in interviewing 40 new applicants for the resident assistant role
