Jess Campbell is a self-taught artist whose brightly colored work explores and celebrates the wonder and creativity we first experience - and too often leave behind - in childhood. Using mediums such as digital illustration, painted murals, pencil, graphic design, and animation, she brings us to a world where tapping into our inherent youth feels playful, easy, and fun. Her work embodies a larger passion for combining purpose with play and radical optimism to challenge traditional conceptions that vibrancy and expression exist in mutual exclusivity with intention and thought.

TMU Jounral Cover

BOOK COVER ILLUSTRATION DECEMBER 2022 - JANUARY 2023 Tools Used: Procreate, Adobe Photoshop Skills: Creative Illustration, Typography The project involved creating a journal cover design and small design elements throughout the journal to reflect the diversity of the people CCF serves. Inspired by the theme of space and Afro-futurism, Jessica utilized her expertise in digital illustration to craft a captivating scene featuring five individuals adorned in afro-futuristic attire set against a cosmic backdrop. The lead on the project expressed admiration for Jessica's initial design, but requested revisions to ensure greater representation and inclusivity, particularly regarding body diversity. With agility and sensitivity, Jessica promptly incorporated the feedback, enriching the illustration with a broader spectrum of body types. The resulting artwork serves as the cover for the journal, inviting survivors to explore their thoughts, emotions, and healing processes. Dee Marksman-Phillpotts, the author of the journal, emphasizes its significance as a sanctuary for weary minds, offering solace, reflection, and a platform for dialogue.See More
