Projects

The New York Film Festival

Branding and poster series for the annual festival bringing together the best of film and filmmakers from around the globe. In 2021, The New York Film Festival returned for the first time since the pandemic, presented by Film at Lincoln Center. Welcoming film critics and fans alike with in-person screenings, talkbacks, and interviews (after a fully digital experience in 2020), the festival brought together cinemaphiles from around the globe to celebrate an award-nominated slate of the latest and greatest films from beloved actors and directors. To celebrate this exciting return to the physical theatre experience, the identity for the 59th NYFF celebrates the physicality and nostalgia of the cinema experience. Drawing from ephemeral retro ticket stubs and movie theater marquees, the identity system is an homage to moviegoing itself. Drawing from the pastiche of typefaces, textures, overprinting, perforations, and punches in 1950s ticket stubs, the branding incorporates a vibrant and tactile feel. The primary typeface is International Pro, a nod to the diverse selection of films and creatives at the festival, supported by a dramatic range of supporting typefaces by Swiss foundry Newglyph. A grid was devised, dividing the posters into thirds, modeled after the segments of a ticket, highlighting an image still from the film.See More

Caffè Panna

Brand refresh for an ice cream parlor importing cream straight from Italy and inventing new flavors five days a week in Gramercy Park. Caffe Panna is an Italian inspired ice cream and coffee shop with daily changing flavors spun fresh in Gramercy Park. Inspired by the Italian gelato tradition and founded by Hallie Meyer, Caffe Panna is known for their exceptional quality and inventive flavor combinations. Their menu changes daily, highlighting ingredients from the best local producers and specialty Italian ingredients from Sicilian pistachios and olive oil to their namesake 'panna' from Piemonte.See More

TAP Air Portugal

Identity for the Lisbon-based airline servicing international travelers to Portugal since 1945 with arms wide open. TAP Air Portugal emerged in 1945 to connect Portugal with the rest of the world, offering an experience “beyond the clouds” on land and in the skies. They are driven by safety, sustainability, trust, proximity and passion. These values are embodied in the revamp of their corporate identity structure, beginning with the logomark. The rich history of the airline includes a number of logos, one of the most iconic being a 1979 mark. The revised brandmark revisits the heritage of this legacy logomark, building upon its symmetry and 40° angle, while modernizing it for applications in various scales and in digital mediums.See More

Ars Nova

Ars Nova is an Off-Broadway, non-profit theater in New York City which develops and produces theater, created by artists in the early stages of their careers. Committed to the pursuit of the "new" and the support of the creative process, Ars Nova encompasses many programs and productions. The identity is built around the words Ars Nova sandwiching production titles, echoing the presence that the company has in fostering its shows from their humble workshop beginnings to their final performances on Broadway and beyond. Also prominently featured throughout the brand are the "revision labels," which appear as stickers stuck across the logo and other elements, inspired by the "work-in-process" philosophy of the Theater. The brand colors are rooted in a vibrant Nova Orange, buzzing and energetic like the art itself. A poster grid allows for stylistic flexibility in the typographical and color treatments of each individual production title to hint at the personality of the shows, while keeping them a cohesive part of the overall system.See More

Voodoo Festival

Branding and illustration for a popular annual music festival celebrating music, artwork, food, and the spirit of Halloween in New Orleans. See More

Joie De Vivre

Publication design for a modern take on a classic French cookbook, a love letter to the bistros of paris and the "joy of living" through the culinary arts. Joie de vivre refers to "a joy of conversation, joy of eating, joy of anything one might do. [It is] a philosophy of life, a Weltanschauung." This phrase sparked this title for a French cookbook reintroducing the joy of living into the modern chef's life by breaking down the most traditional French fare into straightforward recipes. They inspire chefs to not only enjoy their food, but the spirit expressed through the journey of cooking. Research for reference materials naturally led the design to the scene of French culinary capitals like Paris, where bistros and bakeries line the streets, and patrons spend their days enjoying food and community. The visual motifs of the book are heavily influenced by this Parisian bistro experience, from the mosaic tiling of the flooring to the elongated shapes of the menus. The typography is rooted in French Art Deco signage styles, defined by elegant proportions and sophisticated ligatures.See More
