Hello! My name is Mya Lampley. I am a rising senior at Wellesley College double-majoring in English & creative writing and cinema & media studies. The Black Phoenix is my artistic brand that I started in 2022 where I offer photography services in fine art, portraiture, and sports and other events. I am also a 3x self-published author in science fiction and poetry. I am extremely passionate about storytelling through digital media as well as using it to connect with others.

Self-Directed Short Film - Return The Angels!

Return The Angels! is a short film project that challenges the lack of ideal or divine representation in religion for gender non-conforming people. Involving an all-non-conforming cast, the non-affiliated “spirits” in the film are based on the cast’s own envisioning of divine queerness. Return The Angels! is equally about empowering the individuals as much as the spirits they embody: representing the return of non-conforming individuals from erasure by social and societal binaries.
