Preyasi Shah
Data Science Student at UC Berkeley
As a Data Science student at UC Berkeley, I am passionate about applying my skills and knowledge to solve real-world problems and create positive impact. I am currently working as a SWE Intern at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where I conduct research on various database technologies, evaluate their suitability for implementation in the laboratory's projects, and create an database schema to implement into PostgreSQL. I also utilize Anaconda to set up Jupyter Notebook for conducting machine learning experiments, and work with Ruby on Rails to connect database to mobile application.
In addition to my academic and professional pursuits, I am also involved in leadership and community service activities. I served as a Student Leader at Ohlone Multicultural Center, where I greeted students, ensured COVID safety, and spread awareness about assistance programs for underserved students. I also hosted cultural events to promote inclusivity on campus, and budgeted the center's funds effectively. Furthermore, I was the Vice President of Ohlone IEEE Club, where I hosted guest speakers, planned corporate tours, and helped my club grow from three to twenty-five members. I also helped lead our club's nitrogen drone project, where we utilized a drone to collect atmospheric gases and compile data, reaching out to experts from 4-year institutions for guidance.
Through these experiences, I have developed core competencies in database schema, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails, machine learning, Anaconda, Jupyter Notebook, leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork. I am eager to learn new skills, collaborate with diverse people, and contribute to innovative projects that align with my values and goals.
