Rachal Hamilton
Music Director, B.A in Sociology UCI
Rachal Hamilton is a dynamic and accomplished professional passionate about music, education, community engagement, and social justice. Currently excelling as both a Reader at UC Irvine Social Sciences and a UCI radio host. Within her current roles, Rachal is providing invaluable community and academic support and is adept at fostering inclusive environments and offering intercultural understanding. She is a dedicated and versatile individual who is skilled in engaging audiences both inside and outside of the classroom by fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
Rachal brings extensive experience in program management and youth development as demonstrated during her tenure as a Site Supervisor at the YMCA of San Diego County in 2022. In this role, she successfully oversaw afterschool programs, ensuring safety and implementing enriching activities to promote holistic student growth. Her proven leadership abilities in team management, training, and coordination, coupled with her commitment to fostering collaboration and addressing individual student needs.
Rachal demonstrated her dedication to social justice initiatives through roles such as Justice & Equity Intern and JEDI Coordinator at SanDiego350 in 2020. She was instrumental in developing and implementing strategies to promote justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within the organization, including membership growth initiatives, climate justice trainings, and antiracist policy development.
As the co-founder of the mutual aid CEAAL (Community, Environmental Justice, Abolition, Academia, Liberation), Rachal actively engaged in community outreach and advocacy efforts to address food insecurity, housing needs, and systemic injustices in the Greater San Diego area in 2020. She is proficient in fundraising, event planning, and resource allocation to support marginalized communities and advance social change.
While attending Southwestern College, Rachal served as Executive Vice President of the Associated Student Organization, demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills in facilitating collaborative decision-making, setting organizational goals, and executing student-centered initiatives. She was a proactive advocate for student equity and engagement, adept at representing student interests and fostering a sense of community on campus.
She is now finishing her B.A. in Sociology, at the University of California, Irvine with the honors of being a part of both the Dean's List and the Chancellor's Excellence Scholars. She is projected to graduate in Spring of 2025.
