Calypso Riddim

As a video game lover and a video game design enthusiast, I took the opportunity to try and develop my video game concept for my final project. Taking the story of the Canboulay riots that took place in my home country of Trinidad & Tobago, I set out to create an entertaining and engaging video game concept that was bursting with cultural references and representation. Designing every aspect from characters, environment, and narrative this solo project is the best representation of what I can do as a designer and what I love to do. Taking aspects of cultural elements that are of importance to Trinidad and translating them into virtual pieces meant being purposeful in every step. Each color, character, story, and piece of the wider 'world' is taken from real-life elements of Trinbagonian culture. As a love letter to my country, Calypso Riddim serves the purpose of challenging the ideas of proper representation that the gaming industry has lacked in the past. As much as I wanted to create this game for personal joy, I wanted to use the game as a way to build a framework that allows other gaming developers to witness the possibilities of representation that video games could have.See More

IEU Design LabFeb 2021 - Jun 2021 • 5 mosContributed to the rebranding process of the mobile library for ‘Casa de la Lectura’. Aided in creating graphics for advertisements on social media and print. Modeled 3D files for 2 foam boards on library doors to be milled in a CNC milling machine. Built Indoor area of ‘Casa de la Lectura’ included 5 bookshelves, 2 foam boards & seating area.
