StudyBuddy: Enhancing Online Learning Experiences

StudyBuddy was my capstone project for the Google UX Design Certificate program, designed to tackle challenges faced by students in online learning. The goal was to create a user-friendly platform that connects students with compatible tutors while addressing scheduling issues, trust concerns, and overall user engagement. The Problem: Existing tutoring apps often struggle with scheduling conflicts, lack of tutor/student compatibility, and limited features to foster trust and engagement, leading to frustration and disengagement among users. The Solution: StudyBuddy offers a streamlined experience through features like a centralized calendar for scheduling, personalized tutor recommendations, and robust safety measures, including transparent reviews and ratings. Process 1. Research: Conducted user interviews and surveys to identify key pain points. Synthesized data using affinity mapping to highlight four critical issues: scheduling, tutor/student compatibility, trust, and exposure. 2. Personas: Created personas focusing on the primary user group—students—and their specific needs for an effective learning experience. 3. Design: Developed wireframes and prototypes, refining them through two rounds of usability testing. 4. Testing & Refinement: Usability tests revealed the need for clearer booking details, improved scheduling visibility, and a streamlined homepage. Changes were implemented to enhance user satisfaction. Key Features: 1. Personalized tutor recommendations based on preferences and compatibility. 2. Centralized scheduling tools with reminders to minimize conflicts. 3. Transparent reviews and ratings to build trust.
