UX Research Project on Pittsburgh's Smart Loading Zone.

The problem We discovered drivers are indeed aware of the Smart Loading Zones (SLZ) in the city. However, their hesitation stems from uncertainties about driver eligibility, an unclear pricing structure, and a lack of understanding about the purpose of SLZs. Our research methods We adhered to the Double Diamond model to ensure a comprehensive and user-centered approach. The first diamond involved discovering and defining the problem, where our team collaborated to understand the specific challenges and opportunities within Pittsburgh's loading zones. For the second diamond, we focused on developing and delivering solutions. This phase included ideation, prototyping, and testing innovative solutions for Smart Loading Zones. Our Solution Our redesigned double signage consists of necessary parking information with detailed price breakdown. Our solution showed that the initial piece of information every participant recalled was the “15 minutes free parking” after a brief glance. This result proved that our signage along with the painting encourage short-term parking and reduce barriers for entry.See More

Created the front-end of Billow's official website from scratch using Wix.com through 3 rounds of sketching, wireframing, and prototyping. Conducted 10+ user interviews, 3 contextual interviews, and heuristic evaluation to test and refine the user flow. Collaborated with the engineering team and stakeholders through effective communication to ensure a quality delivery. Launched the website by the end of April 2021, and quickly received 700 active users.
