Copywriter, Copy Editor, + Customer Experience Manager in San Francisco
Most recently I was working as a team of 1 at a small tech startup helping Clients find their perfect freelance match + freelancers find their dream opportunities. I learned to thrive by executing big ideas quickly, without sacrificing quality. Once I get inspired by a good challenge, I'll hammer away at a solution until the vision in my head becomes real. Writing is a staple of my life + the skill I'd hang my hat on. In addition, my degree in Women + Gender Studies prepares me to speak to today's audiences empathetically + with great care. My writer's instincts combined with this cultural knowledge uniquely prepare me to speak to many different types of audiences, customers, etc. I can't wait to start learning about and speaking to yours!

Brand Story + Identity — Kinn Studio 💍

🗓 When: May 2021 👤 Client: Kinn Studio, Los Angeles CA ❓ Asks: Write brand statements for social media, web spaces, and public relations that blended existing brand language into fresh bridal-inspired copy. The Founder wanted the language of her new collection to feel like a natural extension of her customer's heirloom jewelry purchases. It was also key to be inclusive, but as a given, not as a point of standing out. The goal was: show, don’t tell. 💡 Insights: I conducted competitor research of the bridal jewelry market, gave the brand a deeply human backstory, wrote three taglines, & incorporated original brand copywriting throughout the website & social media spaces. The Kinn Vow Collection launched in September 2021.See More

Social Media Writing — Kinn Studio 💎

🗓 When: May 2021 - February 2022 👤 Client: Interlude Creative Studios, Los Angeles CA ❓ Asks: Subcontracted by Interlude Creative Studios, I write all caption copy for posts & reels on an ongoing basis for Kinn Studio's Instagram page with a reach of 40.6k followers. I also support the Interlude & Kinn teams with any copyediting needs for social media copy, including Instagram stories. 💡 Insights: Working with Kinn & the Interlude creative team has been a great collaborative learning experience for me, as this was my first steady project as a freelancer. Interlude & I have taken Kinn's follower count higher, and kept their social branding on message to create a coherent and recognizable social presence.See More

Social Media Writing — Tepozán Tequila 🥃

🗓 When: June 2021 - December 2021 👤 Client: Interlude Creative Studios, Los Angeles CA ❓ Asks: Subcontracted by Interlude Creative Studios, I wrote all caption copy for posts & reels on an ongoing basis for Tepozán's Instagram page with a reach of 138k followers. I also supported Tepozán's creative team, Magazine Projects, with any copyediting needs for social media copy, including Instagram stories. 💡 Insights: Working with Magazine Project's creative team & the Interlude social team was a great collaborative learning experience for me on how people come together to truly represent the best of a brand.See More

Website Copy — Interlude Studios 📸

🗓 When: May 2021 👤 Client: Interlude Creative Studios, Los Angeles CA ❓ Asks: On the heels of launching their website to the world for the first time, Interlude wanted some fresh creative copy, as well as to polish up some existing copy. 💡 Insights: Interlude's Creative Director had a strong vision, and we worked closely together to perfect the website copy, where her prospective clients will land, her online courses will live, and services will be offered. I brought the client’s website from an inspiring idea to a confident execution.See More

Story & Mission — Benjamin's Fried Pies 🥧

🗓 When: March 2021 👤 Client: Benjamin's Southern Fried Pies, Hilton Head SC ❓ Asks: It's crucial for the Founder to honor his origins and the community he works in. The ask was to summarize the mission of the business and tell the narrative of how they got started. 💡 Insights: I worked closely with the client to understand the story he really wanted to tell. This is perhaps one of my favorite parts of working with clients—I enjoy asking questions that surprise people or make them slow down, pulling out things they may have never said out loud but feel deeply about what they do. I made the community a central focus of Benjamin's Fried Pies' story, using direct quotes from things I heard the Founder say in our consultation. This way, the story feels authentic to his values and an extension of his own voice.See More

Course Copy Editing — Interlude Studios 🎓

🗓 When: August 2021 👤 Client: Interlude Creative Studios, Los Angeles CA ❓ Asks: For their inaugural online course 〰Freelancing 101〰 the client wanted to maintain an approachable voice, as a key focus of Interlude is to serve a community of creative freelancers finding their footing. While the industry can be rife with disingenuous intentions, Interlude's strength as an agency (aside from its beautiful work) is its transparency and genuine desire to see other creatives in the freelance world survive and prosper. 💡 Insights: When I first consulted with the Creative Director, I was excited by her rawly passionate ideas about helping others in her position succeed in the things they're most passionate about creatively. In a course packed with an abundance of knowledge, great tips, and motivational mantras, this course needed a little enhancement for clarity. Using a heavy-handed approach to syntax restructuring, I helped the client condense her ideas so that the delivery is sure to stick a landing for beginners and experts alike. I edited 8 lessons consisting of roughly 800 words each.See More

Tagline + Brand Identity — Island Time🍹

🗓 When: August 2021 👤 Client: Watterson Brands, Bluffton SC ❓ Asks: Write a tagline, sub-tagline & flavor stories for four distinct canned cocktails. 💡 Insights: This company does brands in a big way. Just launched in July 2022!See More

Website Copy — Tepozán Tequila 🥃

🗓 When: August 2021 👤 Client: Magazine Projects, Los Angeles CA ❓ Asks: "Take a stab at refreshing the copy but getting the same meaning across? Need some flavor... do your thing." -Client 💡 Insights: I copyedited the existing website copy for flow and grammar and wrote fun flavor descriptions for all of their signature cocktails featured on the new website. You could say I spiced it up 🌶See More

Website Copy Editing — Kinn Studio 💍

🗓 When: August 2021 👤 Client: Kinn Studio, Los Angeles CA ❓ Asks: Get my eyes on the entire website & perfect everything for the relaunch! 💡 Insights: I enjoy being the go-to editor in a pinch for specific clients. This client, for example, is great to work with and frequently calls on me to edit notes to the community, engagement stories of her customers, or anything that needs "wordsmithing." This time around, she wanted me to scan her entire website for copy bugs and language kinks. I successfully refreshed the Kinn website copy for their Kinn 2.0 relaunch in August 2021.See More

Sensitive Messaging — Kinn Studio ❤️‍🩹

🗓 When: Juneteenth, June 2021 👤 Client: Interlude Creative Studios, Los Angeles CA ❓Asks: Part of Kinn's social promise is speaking openly and honestly about social issues through their Founder's Note Instagram series. As an Asian American woman, Kinn's Founder & CEO has previously spoken to the community about the Black Lives Matter movement and spoke up during a time of increased violence towards the AAPI community. The ask this time was: sensitively communicate to the Kinn community the historical & present significance of the Juneteenth holiday. 💡 Insights: My favorite type of project is one where I get to use my Women & Gender Studies degree to sensitively and appropriately address social justice topics. The most critical component of this Juneteenth message was not simply celebrating freedom, but highlighting continued oppression. Without this key piece, "a reminder of the work that has yet to be done," this message would feel disingenuous to the Black community's sentiments towards the holiday. I then chose a quote that evoked inter-struggle solidarity and ended with a call to action to continue education. Brand messaging about such serious topics can often feel calculated and profit-driven. There is a way to communicate these topics genuinely, and I think I helped Kinn accomplish that here with this post. Getting the opportunity to write something of this nature also opened up ways that I, as a copywriter, could bring further education to our team. For instance, after writing this post, I shared an article with the whole Kinn team on why we capitalize the "B" in "Black." (The screenshot below is the team's first iteration, which sparked the "B" capitalization conversation. It was then corrected before being posted to Instagram.)See More
