Graphic Designer & Art director
Her career began in an unconventional setting as the owner of an underground techno club in a post-Soviet factory, which she transformed into a cultural landmark in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Over the past seven years, Glikeriya has organized numerous events and festivals, collaborating with artists worldwide. She also introduced the influential lifestyle magazine “The Village” to Kazakhstan, significantly impacting the local media landscape. Additionally, she has been a vital supporter of local businesses, providing them with affordable spaces and fostering a creative community. Besides organizational and legal responsibilities, Glikeriya managed all visual communications for her venue, leaving a lasting mark on the poster culture in Kazakhstan. Growing up in a family of civil engineers and biologists, she developed her graphic style with a mix of technical precision and scientific curiosity. Her style is systematic yet playful and experimental, reflecting her interests in worldbuilding, technical innovation, community creation, and developing identities for various venues and events. She is curious about graphic design education, third spaces, and cultural experimental events that bring people from different backgrounds together. Glikeriya is also interested in graphic design as a tool for building a sense of belonging for various social groups, combining it with deep research about the socio-cultural impact of capitalism on younger generations.

Vzletnaya, a club in central Almaty, holds a special place in the hearts of creatives and techno lovers in Kazakhstan's most populous city. Set inside an abandoned factory, decorated with chandeliers, lanterns, and art installations, the renovated industrial venue is a cultural anomaly. First launched in 2012 as a minimal techno night, the club transformed into a cultural center, sharing space with creative collectives, hosting lectures, exhibitions, and functioning 24/7. Moreover, the project encourages and supports young creatives to start their businesses, whether it’s a local streetwear brand or a photo studio, they will have a studio to work at and an auditory to work with.See More

Festival Identity

Symmetry was a site-specific audiovisual festival that started a new chapter of the electronic music scene. Its identity was bilingual, aiming to capture the multicultural and chaotic nature of Almaty, while the two variable typeface families Din and GT Pressura Mono offered numerous expressions to echo the same idea. Besides posters, banners, and wayfinding signage, the identity contained 3D mapped projection onto a giant sculpture of Venus De Milo, a symbol of beauty that infused movement into the identity.
