With a robust educational background in Interaction Design, Fullstack Web Development, and Graphic Design, I have honed my skills across various disciplines. I currently serve as Product Design Lead at Transcenda, where I strategize on consolidating med-tech products and refining clinical trial workflows. Since 2008, I have operated my freelance business, John Ferreira Design, offering comprehensive product design services. Sifter • Investigation workflow tool
Sifter is a long term passion project/company for me with the overall goal of help people being better informed, meaning gaining better access to to more verified information, the is decentralised from authority. Project Rationale: Sifter is an efficient investigation workflow tool that aims to make the process of uncovering evidence easier and more efficient for independent investigative journalists. The tool provides a user-friendly platform for searching and mapping out findings, allowing journalists to quickly sift through pages of documents and hone in on the information they need to uncover the truth. Additionally, it provides a new way for independent investigative journalists to earn revenue by allowing them to offer subscription access to their research findings, not just individual articles, through its easy-to-use platform. The project addresses a crucial opportunity in the field of investigative journalism, which is the challenge of efficiently searching through large amounts of data. Additionally, it addresses the broader problem of how we inform ourselves, which is fundamentally broken and being used against our own interests as individuals and as society as a whole. Our design process involved user research and testing to gather insights on the needs and preferences of independent journalists. We used these insights to create a solution that is functional, user-friendly, and visually appealing. We applied user-centered design methodologies throughout the process to ensure that the final product effectively addresses the problem at hand. Additionally, we used a low code tool called noodl.net to aid in the research, design, and development of the project. Product Brief: I was contracted to quickly provide Dalia Research a minimum viable product, as their previous attempt wasn't to an acceptable standard. The brief was to research and create a minimal viable experience that quickly provides its essential value to the key users. That being: A service that measures and tracks brand performance overtime. Which is tested & Iterated till that value has been provided optimally. Additionally, to this after the 3-month contract I continued to take the product from the MVP stage to professional product.
