Urbiqo: A Trust-Based Rental Marketplace

Role: Product Designer & Researcher Status: Expected launch July 2026 Tags: Marketplace, UX Research, Trust Design, B2C Redesigning the rental experience in Madrid by replacing outdated paperwork with digital 'trust signals.' Urbiqo unlocks the market for freelancers and expats while reducing risk for hosts. Launching 2026. The Challenge: Madrid's rental paradox Madrid is booming, yet the rental market is paralysed. Outdated filters, specifically the reliance on permanent contracts, fail to recognise modern realities. This locks out solvent tenants (freelancers, expats) and leaves hosts with a limited, homogenised pool of candidates. The Friction: The paperwork wall My research found that 70% of solvent applicants are blocked simply for lacking a standard payslip. Hosts are trapped too — they rely on rigid paperwork to mitigate risk because they lack a better way to verify trust. The Solution: Designing for trust I designed a system to replace bureaucratic gates with transparent trust signals. For tenants: we validate reliability through alternative data, giving them the dignity of being seen for more than a job title. For hosts: we provide a verified solvency score that predicts reliability better than a contract ever could. My deliverables: end-to-end UX research, system architecture, high-fidelity screens and full developer handoff.See More
