In my current role as the Senior Social Media Marketer at Axelerant, a digital agency, I worked on a social campaign (organic + paid) to maximize our presence at an event called DrupalCon Portland. My role was to strategize the entire campaign and look after the execution and results. Few learnings on what not to do: - Founder with no industry background or knowledge can't just come in and run a business. - First-time founders / founders who have not worked as employees, will never have an idea on how a business should operate. They might learn over time, but some never do. - Marketing and Sales can never bring revenue if your product is dead. You need a strong USP to survive, sustain and scale. Copying a service and selling it in a different region will never work. - Hiring decisions should only be taken after several discussion rounds and a full-fledged framework of expectations and outcomes. And yes, I was fired as there was a 'revenue crunch' and because social media couldn't bring in sales - clearly treating social media as a sales channel.

SportskeedaJan 2022 - Jan 2023 • 1 yr 1 moEverything social media for SK POP and SK Entertainment - Sportskeeda's early attempt in tapping into a space outside sports with content around Hollywood, K-pop and everything pop culture targeted towards the audience in USA. My first in a content company with a specialist role - handling the accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Learnt about setting targets and achieving them. Different from all of my previous roles, this one had a core focus on marketing and numbers. Helped in upskilling myself in Excel. Led the execution of a social media plan that generated over 1000% growth on Facebook, summing up to 5 million organic impressions in less than a month. Also, trended on Twitter thrice in the US within six months of the creation of the page. The business failed to generate revenue from social media because of some major reasons - no market research before entering a crowded space, small social media team expected to run and generate revenue for two pages, no social specific content team who would churn out engaging articles and more, that led to my exit / resignation.

First few days went with getting used to new clients being on-boarded which gave me enough space to spread my wings and adjust to this new world of agencies. Had a key role in two winning pitches - NASSCOM Foundation and Festivals From India. VSSU gave me a huge confidence booster as a copywriter. Realised how naive I was to not even know some basic terms, although I knew the execution well. Also, learnt that a small team will teach you so much more than a big team with specialist roles. Key Clients - Rockwell Razors and NASSCOM Foundation.
