Minerva

There are many huge life experiences that women go through. A lot of times, women don’t have access to appropriate information or guidance for these life experiences, especially those who are going through them for the first time. There needs to be a platform where women (specifically young women) can find information, support, and guidance through these situations; a platform in which they feel empowered to conquer life’s firsts, and have a strong and intelligent community to guide them. Minerva was designed to provide a safe space that helps girls to navigate life’s many “firsts”. We have observed that other products/services aren’t helping girls feel safe, informed, and connected with other girls. How might we design Minerva so that our users are successful based on level of support, education, and safety? We believe creating an app for women only will provide a safe space to navigate, learn about, and discuss life’s many “firsts”. Learn more at the link.See More

Department of Homeland Security

The current Department of Homeland Security website has several usability pain points, which makes it difficult for users to navigate through it. In addition, it suffers from an outdated look resulting in users feeling disinterested and unengaged. The 3 major pain points include poor categorization of tabs and sections, overwhelmingly amount of text, and lack of distinction between sections. The ultimate goal of the redesign is to develop a website with an intuitive design to eliminate any confusion and difficulty when using it. By reorganizing the main navigation tabs, incorporating a clean, modern visual design, establishing each section with color blocking and lines, and decreasing the amount of text and including more information cards, the user is able to move through the website with ease. Rescue Dogs Rock

Rescue Dogs Rock is a New York City non-profit that helps find new homes for pets. Currently, their website is hard for a user to navigate and understand the clear message this organization is trying to send. Our goal is to help RDR increase adoptions and donations by redesigning their website, specifically to: draw more attention to their mission; streamline the donation process; simplify the navigation; and improve consistency of branding.
