Introducing a new path to Pangea
Forget your password, because you don’t need it anymore. Any user today can unlock the ability to log in to Pangea with their Apple ID or Google Account, all without changing the inbox they receive notifications in.
One less thing to think about
Today on Pangea, we’re introducing a new feature to bring everyone one step closer to finding what they’re looking for. Next time you log in—on iOS, Android, and in your browser—you’ll be greeted with two new options to access your account. Besides the traditional email and password route, you’ll see buttons for Authenticate with Google and Sign In with Apple. Both options offer utility and speed to both new and existing users, and we can’t wait for you to try it.
With over 1.8 billion active accounts, Authenticate with Google taps into a global network of credentials. Chances are you have a gmail sitting around somewhere, whether it’s the inbox you check every day or a leftover from years past. Connecting your Google account to an existing Pangea account will make sure you never have to hit “forgot password” again.
If you’re more privacy-minded, then Sign In with Apple might be your poison. The Cupertino-based company has staked its reputation on virtual security, and its authentication offering is no different.
A gateway to the easy life
If you’ve been on Pangea for a bit, the settings screen shouldn’t be unfamiliar to you. To take a look under the hood, click or tap on your profile picture and then select Settings from the options that appear. Under the Account heading, you should see an option labeled Linked Accounts. This is where you’ll be able to choose which account to link (and later manage that connection).
While it might seem like a small decision, make sure you choose an account that you know you’ll have access to for the foreseeable future. If your primary Google account is tied to your school, for example, you might be better off selecting another gmail account or electing to use Apple. And if you’re on an Android or non-Apple computer, linking your Apple ID may lack the utility it would inside the Apple ecosystem.
After you’ve connected an account for authentication, you’ll still be able to sign in with your email and password, and you will still get notifications at that same address. If this isn’t ideal, you can change them email address you’ll receive notifications to under Account Access.
Becoming a Pangean has never been easier
For freelancers creating their accounts for the first time, we’ve made your first moments on Pangea smoother than they’ve been for the thousands of Pangeans before you. Instead of creating yet another “unique” password, you can put your trust in Google or Apple to keep your new account safe.
If you’re having trouble selecting which service to go with, think about which email you read the most. All messages, offers, and conversations with support will be sent to the email address associated with either your Google account or Apple ID; to make sure your experience finding work through Pangea goes smoothly, we recommend only signing up with a currently active account.
A step closer to hiring
Whether you’re the first person from your company to make an account or you’re joining your coworkers, our new log-in options add to the many ways we’ve sped up the hiring process on Pangea. If your organization has invested in either the Google or Apple ecosystem, then connecting the respective company account is a no brainer. However, if you’d like to receive hiring-related notifications at a specific email address not tied to either a Google or Apple account, you may prefer to sign up the traditional way.
