With no prior employees and a launch on the horizon, the Mimloo team faced a deceptively simple problem: they needed design support, but not just a graphic designer. They needed someone who could also own creative direction and manage social media, a combination that typically requires either hiring multiple people or engaging a full-service agency.
Gabriel had previously gone through the headache of finding freelance talent through unvetted channels, and he was also weighing the option of hiring a creative agency. Both paths felt slow and costly. He needed a solution that could move at the speed of a pre-launch startup.
“We considered an agency, but we really needed to start the work immediately. I’ve been through that rodeo before – finding talent that isn’t properly vetted. It’s always painstaking.” – Gabriel
Gabriel had worked with Pangea in the past, so when it came time to hire for Mimloo, the platform was his first call. Within a short window, Pangea surfaced a small set of candidate recommendations. Andrea, a designer based in Spain, rose immediately to the top.
Andrea brought exactly the blend the team was searching for: graphic design expertise, creative direction experience, and hands-on social media know-how. Beyond her skills, a shared language created an unexpected advantage – the team was able to build rapport quickly, negotiate naturally, and establish a smooth working rhythm from day one.
“It wasn’t that we needed a Spanish speaker – it just happened that way. But because of the shared language, we were able to get along better, onboarding was a breeze, and we were more aligned on a lot of things.” – Gabriel
The platform’s contractor model was also a key factor. Without a formal payroll setup yet in place, Mimloo needed someone who could start immediately, deliver real work, and serve as a kind of working interview before any longer-term commitment.

With Pangea’s help, Mimloo was able to:
Gabriel was so happy with Andrea's performance that they decided to bring her on to the team in a permanent capacity after only a few months of work together. Gabriel is optimistic about a long-term working relationship: “I hope she’s with us for a long time. As long as she continues to move the needle, we’re going to be happy.”
